Remix Crusades (2007-2013) - Compilation out March 11th
“To me, remixing is about honouring the original composition by deconstructing it and adding new ideas from my own sound universe, and in that sense create something entirely new.“
Kasper Bjørke is no stranger to the art of the remix, having amassed a prodigious back catalogue over the past half decade. However, unlike so many other artists driven to churn out versions to keep their name in the limelight, one gets the sense that the young Dane has a quality control mechanism that elevates each mix he puts his name to – and a crucially deft ear for the artists he invites to rework his own compositions.
It’s with that in mind that hfn music proudly presents Remix Crusades (2007 – 2013) – a timely reminder that remixes can offer committed artists the creative platform to produce some of their most inventive work. Split evenly down the middle, half of this release focuses on remixes of Kasper Bjørke tracks over the past 5 years (including tracks of his 2012 album release ‘Fool’), with the second half a treasure trove of remixes he made for other artists.
Available in one place for the first time, the collection (which also contains a couple of exclusive unreleased tracks), is a perfect summation of the Bjørke’s disco-fied house music style, and a great opportunity for the non-DJs to catch up with his exceptionally high output over the last few years.
The list of artists lining up to re-interpret his original compositions is mouth-watering to say the least – from US sensations Nicolas Jaar, Still Going and Slow Hands, to the cream of European club land – rising stars Mano le Tough, Maxxi Soundsystem and Catz’n Dogz, underground flag-bearers Wareika, and fellow countrymen Trentemøller, WhoMadeWho and Kenton Slash Demon.
When Bjørke himself is at the controls, the results are no less devastating. Bjørke describes the process thus, “a remix portfolio becomes a sort of production diary that can go hand in hand with my own original material. It reflects my influences of the time I worked on the remix – and sometimes you can hear sounds and ideas in the remixes that have affected compositions on my own singes and albums.”
As evidence of this, witness the outstanding work he produces for the likes of Michoacan, Trentemøller, Ilya Santana, Moby, Gluteus Maximus, Human Woman and many more. His talent for deconstructing wildly disparate styles and pulling together tracks that are definitively by the hand of Kasper Bjørke, is clear to see.
iTunes customers will also be blessed with the chance to snatch up two unreleased tracks – made up of Bjørke reworks for GusGus and Danish legends Laid Back - and an exclusive pre-release remix of Cómeme´s hot property Rebolledo.

Happy New Year!
Hurry over to XLR8R Magazine to get a free download of my "Liquid Lips Remix" of Wankelmut´s new single "My Head is a Jungle" - coming out on Get Physical Music this january.
To answer XLR8R´s question about why I called it "Liquid Lips Remix":
Well... it refers to two big inspirations of mine, Liquid Liquid and Chicken Lips.
- it´s as simple as that. Enjoy the remix - it was fun to make!
Vanity 6: Nasty Girl (Kasper Bjørke Re-Edit)
This track featured in the strip club scene in Beverly Hills Cop - and as it was the first vinyl I ever bought, what better way than to end the year with a re-edit of this 1982 slutty pop song, where the number 6 of the bandname refers to the combined number of tits in the band. Classy! Prince masterminded the whole thing.
Happy New Year !
2012 / 2013
Here is a quick roundup of 2012 and of whats to come in 2013 !
I released my third album "Fool" in April on Hfn Music, along with three accompanying singles and videos. The first single "Lose Yourself to Jenny" premiered on Interview Magazine and received high radiorotations throughout Europe and the US + got a nomination for Best Dance Release at Danish Music Awards. I also released an EP with my friend Sexy Lazer under the new moniker The Mansisters, and throughout 2012 I remixed artists like Rebolledo, Gluteus Maxiumus, Coss & Stiggsen, Jori Hulkkonen and many more. Hugo (Hugo Boss) asked me and Nina Kraviz to be brand ambassadors and invited us to create the runway soundtrack for their fashionshow in Berlin, some photoshoots for Italian Vogue etc - and do blogposts on their website. As a DJ I have tried to cut down on touring too much the past year but still ended up playing countless DJ gigs + I started my own radioshow on Danish National Broadcasting P6Beat called 4/4 - and here we are, at the brink of a new year that could turn out to be even more busy:
I am starting the production of a new project in January with my Italian friend Davide Rossi - the greatest stringcomposer that I know (Davide played strings on my sophomore album). The music will be accompanied by visuals made by Danish wizards Dark Matters - and the project doesnt yet have a name. But one thing is for sure: It will be something completely different than what I normally do and it will be performed live.
January will see the release of two remixes that I just finished recently - of German hit sensation Wankelmut (coming out on Get Physical) + Spanish artist El Txef_A
In February, I will release the last and fourth single from my recent album, called "Sunrise" - again in collaboration with the amazing Jacob Bellens and again with beautiful artwork by Trevor Jackson. It will be accompanied by some pretty amazing remixes and a video by Karim Huu Do, who did the fantastic video for my latest single Bohemian Soul. Cant wait to share it with you.
And then, in March, I will release my first remix compilation - containing 24 tracks - including a selection of remixes other artists did of my singles - and remixes that I did of others.
I will also announce some very exciting new activities on the management side - make sure to swing by BjrkeLmche for more info very soon.
Finally, I will continue to host my weekly radioshow 4/4 on DR P6 Beat - now available as podcast on Itunes here
Much more news about my releases once we enter 2013 - in the meantime here are the first official Dj dates - including two that will surely be among the highlights of the year; Panorama Bar in Berlin and Sonar in Reykjavik!
Merry Xmas & Happy New Year!K /(Nb: Cat-picture credit: I have no idea, but its pretty neat....)
