Hello 2012!

… You have been eagerly awaited!

Time for a quick roundup of 2011 plus a look at what is to come, in this brand new and very exciting year.

As an artist, I released an EP called Symptoms on HFN in May and I also managed to do a large number of remixes for the likes of Moby, Retro Stefson, App, Trentemøller, Darkness Falls, Canyons, Ilya Santana etc. while still putting alot of time into producing my next solo album. Also, I released the 5th album with Danish project Filur together with Tomas Barfod on the Danish label Disco:wax. The singles are currently doing very well on national radio and we are planning a summer touring the Danish festivals.

On the DJ front, 2011 was another successful and busy year for me; touring all over the place. I was fortunate enough to play at some of my favorite clubs in the world, including Social Club in Paris, Le Bain in New York, Electric Pickle in Miami, Bob Beaman in Munich, Gewölbe in Cologne and fabric in London. Besides a few unconquered venues, my Dj touring ambitions in the years to come are decreasing. I would rather spend more my time in the studio or at home, as my days are filling up with other activities. I will continue to play as Dj - just less than in the past years - and only at carefully selected clubs and parties - with help from my dear booking agency Clique Bookings in Berlin.

One thing I am in particular proud of in the past year: I masterminded a party called A Dance For Africa in September, where I, together with a large number of Djs from Copenhagen and the venues of Kødbyen, collected 55.000 DKR (equal to 10.000 USD) for The Red Cross to help the hunger disaster in East Africa. I hope to continue to do one off parties to raise money for a good cause in the years to come.

A big change for me in 2011: As of September 1st, I stopped working for Fake Diamond Records, after 4 years as Head of A&R. Having build the record label roster from scratch and also setup the international distribution and label collaborating contacts, has been an exciting but at times a very frustrating job. I realized along the way that I am probably not fit for being on "the other side" of the desk. I will always be on the artist side. – So, instead I will proceed with doing what I love: Talent scouting (having discovered and signed acts like Oh Land and Darkness Falls is still something that I am very proud of) and of course Artist Management. Developing and managing artists is to me as giving and fulfilling, as releasing my own music.

I am continuing to manage the amazing Trentemøller, who I have worked with for more than 4 years now, but as of autumn 2011 I have also started to co-manage the new Danish band Reptile Youth. Trust me, this is a band, you will soon hear a lot more about. Their debut album will be out in the summer, they are confirmed for SxSw, By:Larm and Eurosonic this year. I have very high expectations to these guys. So - setting up a proper management company is definitely on the agenda for 2012. - More news on that very soon!

Also, another big new addition to my career in 2012 will be my weekly radio show on National Radio DR P6 Beat. Its called 4/4 (clever, huh?) and will be aired every Friday from 7-9 pm - premiere is on January 6th! - Even though I am speaking in Danish on the show, its up as an international Podcast from DR´s website. There will be mainly disco, no wave, italo, oddities and proper house and techno on the agenda + a few guest mixes from international Dj friends, of course. I am thrilled to join P6 Beat and look forward to try out the role as a radio host on national radio.

Last, but not least, as mentioned before, I am releasing my third solo album this April. The first single "Lose Yourself to Jenny" with Jacob Bellens, will be out in March, including a huge remix package from some fantastic names - and I am very excited to have the album out. I spend most of 2011 producing this album. Blood, sweat and alot of studio time have been put into it. - A lot more news to come very shortly!

Studio-wise in the next months, I will be concentrating mostly on some remixes for Rebolledo (Comeme), Gluteus Maximus (Kompakt), Martin Brodin (MB Disco) and the Danish girlband Nelson Can - as well as some more edits I have in mind. Also I will be working on an EP project with my dear Icelandic friend Sexy Lazer under our goofy moniker The Mansisters.

As for Dj touring, I will - as mentioned - take it slower than I have for the past years, leaving time and energy for all the exiting activities above.

 - I am psyched to have the opportunity to work on so many great projects this year - and to be able to surround myself everyday with what I love to do - and whom I love to work with.

Oh yeah, and I got a Cat !

 Happy New Year,

X K
